New for 2007!!
Chickasha’s Festival of Light offers a new animated, musically-choreographed light show.
Computer technology and Christmas Magic combine this year in Chickasha’s Shannon Springs Park incorporating 200,000 dancing mini-lights into its total light count of over 3.5 million. This show is not just a bunch of blinking lights to music. Highly- skilled computer technicians worked hundreds of hours to program a 13 minute masterpiece that joins exhilarating Christmas music with a magnificent routine of choreographed dancing lights. Spinning trees, shimmering deer, stately soldiers, and more can be seen at this drive-through or walk-through event although vehicular traffic will not be able to stop and watch the animated light show due to traffic flow. “The complete show takes about 15 minutes from start to finish so visitors must park and walk to see it in its entirety. Our park has several parking lots available and directions to those lots are given on our new website at www.ChickashaFestivalofLight.com,” states Director Kristi Davis.
Walkers can experience the many amenities also offered such as carriage rides, memory photos with Santa or the Grinch, homemade cinnamon rolls and hot apple cider, plus shopping in the gift shop. A trip to Festival of Light wouldn’t be the same without a walk across the Crystal bridge and a photo under the gazebo lit bright enough to see from space! The resident ducks and geese also don’t mind a bit when the over 250,000 visitors come to their lake to bring them food and attention.
Named an Official Oklahoma Centennial Event, Festival of Light is the longest running light show in Oklahoma, celebrating its 15th anniversary this year. The park opens November 20 and runs through December 31 from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. each night. Over 1200 volunteers from ages 3 to 93 work year-round to prepare this show for thousands of visitors. One thing is for sure this year, whether you’re driving or walking, a trip to Chickasha needs to be on your Christmas wish list.
